Beaches

Beaches are the pumping heart of Newquay, the great adventure playgrounds where children play on the golden sands, couples stroll hand-in-hand, surfers ride the Atlantic rollers and gig rowers heave their long wooden boats over the breakers to the open sea.
Laid out like a necklace of sandy pearls at the foot of rugged cliffs, there are 8 different beaches within walking distance of the town

Fistral beach Newquay

Fistral Beach is Newquay’s iconic beach, quite simply one of the most consistent and best surfing beaches in the UK and Europe. This beautiful beach is west facing, long and sandy and backed by rocks and cliffs. Fistral is the perfect family beach offering simple pleasures of sea and surf combined with first class beach and seafront facilities including surf equipment hire, lessons and boutiques, showers, toilets, car parking, restaurants and cafe.

Towan Beach

Towan Beach is the most central of Newquay’s beaches lying just below the Killacourt and Beach Road. This beach is sheltered by Towan Head and provides either small waves, ideal for novice surfers or calm waters for safe swimming.
Towan is a popular and often very busy beach, right in the centre of town. Good size of sand and rock, popular with both surfers and families. Blue Reef Aquarium right by the beach is a fascinating attraction for young and old.

Harbour Beach

The Harbour sounds like an unlikely spot to have a beach , however at low tide this sheltered cove provides an ideal place for soaking up the sun or enjoying the sheltered waters. Lately several seals regularly visit here and are a common sight frolicking in the water.  The Harbour Beach is only accessible at low tide and is part of a working harbour where you can watch the fishermen bring back the catch. Popular with families due to the safe sheltered bathing, the cliffs behind the harbour are beautifully decorated with wild flowers in summer, especially red and white Valerian  This is the smallest of the Newquay town beaches and is a sheltered, calm beach with no surf,

Lusty Glaze Beach

Lusty Glaze Beach, a popular sandy beach, is a beautiful, horseshoe shaped cove, surrounded by high cliffs with direct access to the sea on the outskirts of Newquay on the north Cornwall coast. This is a great family beach with fun activities for all ages and abilities and superb beach-side facilities.

This private Newquay beach is surrounded on 3 sides by cliffs 150ft high creating the perfect setting for the only beach zip wire in Cornwall. For adrenalin junkies this Zip Wire is Lusty Glaze’s answer to bungee jumping. At 750ft long and 120ft high, The Zip Wire experience on this aerial runway is finished off with a 50ft free abseil down to the sand.

  • "This is truly Newquay's finest gem of a hotel. A huge thank you to both Debbie & Mark for making us feel so very welcome. The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful, and so tastefully done. Attention to detail is amazing, which in turn makes it all the more welcoming, with a lovely warm comfortable feel to every room. Debbie & Mark take customer service and satisfaction to another level and went way above and beyond our expectations."
